An Aching Drift

Perhaps it’s quite simply a case of living in hope, although it could just as easily be misconstrued as a fatalism of self-pity. Each day, I’ve been putting off any attempt at blogging, not for lack of ideas or, my lack of stamina (a sufficiently persuasive excuse) but rather, in the belief that I’ll soon be feeling better and hence, the possibility of having some actual events/activities to report on.

Pain, discomfort, fatigue and bruising exhaustion, constantly struggle to be at the forefront of my attention; for the time being any pain control medication (the primary current one being ‘Tramadol’) seems to lack efficacy! In some ways, it’s as if I’ve not been able to recover from my little jaunt to the South coast at the beginning of September. Even the most modest journeying insists on extracting a disproportionate toll from yours truly.

If I can’t be positive, there seems little point in bringing others down but, a good humoured resilience in the face of ill-health gets a bit tedious at times. Must admit that I’m just as worried about my health as is my good lady but, I tend not to wear my anxieties on my sleeve!

Mal,

I once heard there was a guy in California, back in the 70's, who ran workshops. He was tired of all the feel positive and swell workshops so his workshop was on "endarkenment." As is, let's get real, at least periodically, and stop talking about enlightenment, and transcendence and meaning and purpose, etc., and let get into all the lousy moods, feelings, thoughts, expectations, etc., which our society runs from but which is there all the time anyway.

Apparently people loved the freedom of it all.

Hey, Mal, let's get some buttons made. Something to the effect of: Pssst, I don't have the energy to talk about this but if you are really interested, I'm having a perfectly shitty day. So go ahead and tell me about your anxieties and we'll have a right old time wallowing for a few minutes. Then I'll go on me way. And if you're not interested, well have a really smiley day and, oh, by the way, fook you royally.

It would be a bit much for a button. Maybe a t-shirt..or what do you think about a billboard.

Thanks Tim - your comment was much appreeciated as always. I'd not heard about bthe "endarkenment" workshops but we must keep a balance in all things! On other matters, I do think the portability of a button is prefaerable to a billboard - why not a compressed zip-file button?

Thankyou Sarah for stopping by. You're always welcome!

Mal,

I like the compressed zip file button.

Or maybe just to keep it really kiss simple: Fook You!

I think the trick will be to get the right font and style and colors.
